7 RPF cadres remanded

The Special Court of NIA Manipur on Friday remanded seven cadres of RPF/PLA to judicial custody till November 4 for their alleged involvement in pre-judicial activities and killing non-Manipuris recently.
The case was taken up by the NIA.
Accused Chingkham Basanta (38), s/o Ningthembi of Andro Nungyungbi; Moirangthem Jitesh (22) s/o (L) Sanjit of Kakching Ningthou Leikai; Konjengbam Romio @ Nongthon (28) s/o Raghu of Moirang Konjengbam; Phanjoubam Rabi @ Nanao (26), s/o Kula of Andro Labaochum Ching Leikai; Salam Mangijao (55), s/o (L) Tombi of Kakching Wairi Salam Leikai; Naorem Manoj (23) s/o Nobin of Luker Mayai Leikai and Samurailatpam Akash @ Muston (19) s/o Rajeswor of Kakching Wairi Saban Bamon Leikai were produced before the Court by a team of NIA on completion of police custody period .
The Special PP NIA submitted that initial investigations revealed that all the accused persons are members of proscribed underground organization PLA/ RPF and they were working under the command of Rishikanta, self styled lieutenant colonel of the outfit operating from Myanmar.
It was further submitted that the accused were involved in various crimes committed in the recent past at Thoubal and Kakching districts, including killing of non-Manipuris.
The Special PP submitted that all the alleged accused persons were examined in detail and recorded their statement during the police custody period.
The accused persons had also partially disclosed that they were planning to plant explosives at various Government installation and target security force on the eve of the Independence Day 2022, it claimed and alleged that the accused were involved in killing non-locals at Khongjom Sapam Mayai Leikai on May 30 last and at Uchol Chingjin on July 8 .
The Special PP, however, contended that the accused persons are not fully cooperating with the investigation and examination and so they need to be remanded to judicial custody.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the Special PP NIA remanded the accused persons to judicial custody till November 4 .
