Jiribam, October 21 2022:
The JCILPS Jiribam Branch has appealed to the State Government to make the ILPS counter of Jiribam railway station fully operational like the one opened at Khongsang railway station.
Speaking to media persons today, JCILPS Jiribam Branch convenor W Democha said that Jiribam district police and JCILPS carried out a verification drive among passengers travelling by train to Khongsang through Jiribam.
The team found a large number of non-local people travelling in the particular train.
One Ranadas who claimed to be a resident of Assam was found travelling with invalid ILPS pass.
As such, he was pulled up by police, Democha said.
He also urged the State Government to adopt 1951 as the base year for identification of non-local people instead of 1961 decided by the State Cabinet.
JCILPS Jiribam Branch co-convenor Y Romen, students' wing convenor Ch Achou, JDO assistant publicity secretary M James and AJUCA organisation secretary L Sadananda were also present at the press meet.
