Imphal, October 21 2022:
The Consumers' Club Manipur (CCM) has appealed to all traders, street vendors and shop owners to refrain from hiking the prices of commodities by taking advantage of Ningol Chakkouba festival.
The club also urged all concerned to not sell any goods without providing cash memo or of inferior quality.
A press release issued by CCM said that people must also check the products they plan to purchase thoroughly before making any transactions.
"In case of packaged product, its manufacturing and expiry dates as well as other details of the item must be gone through before purchasing it," it said and added that other items which are to be purchased in different units of measurement must be measured only by tools recognised by the Weight & Measures Department.
To avoid traffic congestion, no shops must be allowed to sell on footpaths, it said and appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter.
The CCM further appealed to all consumers to not buy foreign electrical appliances brought from China, Korea, Thailand and Myanmar which don't have any warranty coverage as there are no servicing centres for them.
"If the consumers encounter any problems or have been cheated by shopkeepers then they may contact the club (mobile number 7629933367) or visit its office at Paona Keithel," it added.
The CCM went on to appeal to the fishers who will take part in the Annual Fish Fair 2022 to use weighing machines approved by the Weight & Measures Department.
