Masterclass on social photography to be held

A 2-Day Masterclass on Social Photography will be held at the Preview Theatre of Manipur State Film Development Society, MSFDS, Palace Gate on November 11 and 12, 2022 .
The event will be organised by Win Foundation, a non-profit, charitable trust based in Manipur, working in the field of youth empowerment, skill development and documentation in association with Photography Promotion Trust, Mumbai and Photo South Asia, said a press release by Win Foundation.
The Masterclass is to be conducted by Padma Shri Sudharak Olwe on the theme "Identity & Issues of Indigenous Communities" focusing on creating authentic narratives and an archive of images that re-present an India that is often hidden away.
The masterclass will cover the history of social documentary photography, work of Masters, how to start a photo-project, finding your purpose, key elements of a photo-story, basics of visual storytelling, using lights, framing and visual styles.
The 2-day photo event will also have practical sessions and group review of images by participants and review of portfolio of participants if any.
Professional, amateur and enthusiast and fresh candidate who are interested in participating in the first ever Photography Masterclass held in Manipur shall submit the online enrolment form for the masterclass by requesting for the form at [email protected] .
Sudharak Olwe is a Mumbai-based photojournalist since 1988 and has worked as a press photographer with some of the leading newspapers in India.
Sudharak has travelled the length and breadth of this nation and seen first-hand some incredible stories of resilience, courage and change.
He has worked in tandem with many NGOs presenting their extraordinary work with both rural and urban communities.
In 2016, Sudharak was conferred the Padma Shri, India's 4th Highest Civilian Award by the President of India.
