Governor Anusuiya Uikey has led in extending her warm salutations to the people of Manipur, especially the Christian community on the sacred occasion of Good Friday 2023, followed by the Chief Minister and other Ministers of the State.
In a statement, the Governor said that Good Friday exemplifies the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ for all the sins of mankind and His resurrection which represents the victory of good over evil.
She also proceeded to wish the people a happy Easter Sunday.
Stating that the teachings of Christ emphasizes a world free from inequality and injustice, Chief Minister N Biren Singh wished for the goodness of Good Friday and Easter Sunday to surround everyone year long and to bless the people with peace and prosperity.
Joining in conveying her warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Good Friday 2023, Nemcha Kipgen, Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry & Co-operation urged people to rededicate themselves to the noble ideas of love, peace and forgiveness and further strengthen the bond of oneness amongst all.
Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai also conveyed his heartiest Good Friday greetings to the people and appealed to people to uphold the noble ideas of peace, harmony and brotherhood espoused by Jesus Christ.
He also wished the people a happy Easter Sunday.
Meanwhile, Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) and Meetei Christian Churches Council (MCCCM) have also extended their salutations on the holy occasion of Good Friday.
In a statement, MBC shared that Good Friday reminds people to be loving, compassionate and considerate even when one's convictions, creeds and practices are different.
MBC expressed hope for the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross to bring understanding, peace and harmony in society.
Similarly, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and MCCCM wished that the arrival of Good Friday and Easter Sunday which marks the death of Jesus Christ on the cross and His subsequent resurrection, will usher in an era of harmony, prosperity and peace in Manipur.
