Award winning senior artistes to get lakh incentive

Art and Culture deputy director G Dharmadas said that senior artistes of the state, who have won national awards will be provided cash incentives of Rs 1 lakh each under Chief Ministergee Artistesingee Tengbang (CMAT) .
He was attending as guest of honour at the dosing ceremony of the year-long 60th foundation day celebration of Manipur Jagoi Marup held at the jubilee auditorium of the institution at Lamboi Khongnangkhong.
Former minister Dr M Nara and JN Manipur Dance Academy director Pukhrambam Bilash attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmadas conveyed that the government acknowledges the hardships faced by artistes of the state and understanding their situation, the government under the leadership of chief minister N Biren launched CMAT for the
welfare and encouragement of artistes.
Financial grants are being provided to different cultural groups under the scheme.
Apart from the pension provision, the government will now provide cash incentives of Rs 1 lakh each to senior artistes, who have won national awards, under the scheme, he said.
He also appreciated the commitment and efforts of Manipur Jagoi Marup towards promoting art and culture of the state.
Sangeet Natak Akademi award winning artistes N Irabot, A Tombinou, Ibemu-bi, ft Tiken and N Jadumani were honoured by presenting gifts on the occasion.
Cultural and traditional performances of different institutions including Meitei Traditional Dance Teaching Scholl & Performing Centre, Sathek Sindam Shang, Eastern Art & Culture Foundation Manipur, Rhythms of Manipur, Govindajee Na ta-Sankirtana, and Manipuri Jagoi Marup were presented in the event.
