Poknapham mobile app launched

Adding a new feather in technologically advanced contemporary society, Poknapham and its sister publication The People's Chronicle launched a mobile app 'Poknapham' in a function held at The Den Restaurant, Konung Mamang on Thursday morning.
The app will soon be available in Google PlayStore for download.
Poknapham editor Aribam Robindro Sharma launched the mobile app in the function, which was also attended by The People's Chronicle editor Sagolsem Imo and Poknapham executive editor Samurailatpam Gautam Sharma.
Several well-wishers of the two dailies were also present on the occasion.
In his brief address, Aribam Robindro recounted how mobile phone reached the northeast region and Jammu & Kashmir belatedly due to security reasons.
Capabilities of mobile phones have changed drastically from the first time these devices were launched to the era of smart phones.
Today, smartphones have become a handy device to access all kinds of information including breaking news.
In order to keep up with the pace of advancing technology, Poknapham and The People's Chronicle are launching mobile app 'Poknapham' which is the first of its kind among the traditional media houses of the state, he said.
He also expressed elation that the media firm will be able to deliver news updates to its users through this app.
Yaikhomba Ningthemcha, founder director of Addble Solutions Private Limited, the tech firm that developed the mobile app, explained that users will be able to read Qews related with the state, northeast region, national and international in two languages and three scripts - Manipuri in Meetei Mayek & Bengali scripts, and English.
For the initial stage, it will be available for Android users in Google PlayStore soon.
iOS app will also be made available in Apple Store soon, he added.
