Imphal, February 25 2022:
Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has informed that High Court has allowed it to continue its works and pursue relevant cases.
While seeking public support to its endeavours to uphold rights of women and children, MSCW chairperson in-charge Tiningpham Monsang told media persons at its Lamphel DC office on Friday that a 23-year-old woman from Kangpokpi district registered a complaint to the commission against her boyfriend in 2019.Acting on the complaint, the commission summoned both the parties.
However, the respondent complained to Manipur High Court against the commission.
As such, all the cases received by the commission had to be put on hold, she added.
Informing that a judgment of the High Court on February 18 allowed the commission to pursue its cases, Tiningpham conveyed that it will take up the case at the earliest and deliver justice.
The commission is for bringing out the truth and delivering justice.
Hindering the case for a long time and delaying in bringing justice is unfortunate, she said, while urging the people to extend all possible cooperation.
The press conference was attended bymembers of the commission.
