Sajibu Inat Ngaikhang Kumhei kicks off

A 10-day long 17th Sajibu Inat Ngaikhang Kumhei, which is being organised by Ima Leishem Inat Loishang commenced from Saturday at Nongpok Chingu Thong Meetei Laikol, Thalo Sipi Lok Selloi Langmai Ching.
According to Inat Loishang secretary Aheibam Medha, Sajibu Inat Ngaikhang Kumhei is being organised to commemorate the day titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba visited spiritual leader Panthou's site in the royal tradition and accorded the spiritual leader with the title of 'Chingu Laitaingamba Khoyum Lailup Ngaikhangba' on April 13, 2006.Regarding the event, spiritual leader Panthdu said that Meetei community with small population is filled with numerous lacunae and hence all the living Meetei people should work collectively to save the community from extinction.
He then appealed to all the hill and valley dwellers of the land to join the ritual festival.
As part of the event, a scribe of local daily Huiyen Lanpao will be conferred 'Pari Award' on April 24.The award carries Rs 50,000 in cash and a citation.
