VDFs remind CM of promises made

VDF Welfare Association, Thoubal District has expressed elation on return of N Biren as the chief minister and hoped that the new government will make the state peaceful, prosperous and self-reliant.
In a release, Association's publicity secretary K Bikram recounted that the previous BJP government led by CM Biren had assured during public meetings and through the media that the demands of VDF personnel would be considered compassionately.
However, the promises given by the chief minister on the occasion of 12th raising day of VDF are yet to be translated into action.
It is believed that the CM in his second term will keep the promises made in the first term to VDF personnel including raising honorarium, service protection, seniority, service book, rank and file, opening of VDF battalion, pension system etc., by taking up their demands in the cabinet meeting, it conveyed.
The release further appealed to the government to take up annual service extension of VDF which ended on March 31 in the cabinet meeting and issue service extension order along with payment of salary for the month of March.
