Water Resource and Relief and Disaster Minister Awangbow Newmai and MLA K Ranjit handed over essential items to the people of Pangantabi, Sugnu AC in Kakching district who were affected by the recent storm that lashed the State during the night of April 14 .
Aid was provided to the affected people during an inspection visit which was joined by M Kapaljit, SDO Waikhong sub-division, SDC, N Indibala, Pradhan Pangantabi GP and other staff.
Speaking at the sideline of the inspection visit, Awangbow Newmai stated that the Government exists for the people, adding that immediate measures will be taken up to provide relief to the people who have suffered great damages as a result of the storm.

MLA K Ranjit said that man is helpless in the face of such natural disasters and expressed relief that there were no casualties.
He also provided assurance that he will give assistance to people who lost their homes in the storm.
He further said that plans were underway to set up relief camps in association with the local clubs and relevant officials to provide shelter to the affected people.
It is worth noting that 27 families lost their homes in Pangantabi, 21 in Chairel and 37 in Nungai and Sabam of Wangoo GP.
In this regard, MLA K Ranjit has provided monetary assistance to the tune of Rs 1 lakh each to the committees formed for each locality.
Altogether 208 households across Pangantabi, Chairel and Wangoo GP were affected by the violent storm.
