Earthbag house making project begins at Honkhuiphung

Affordable Human Needs (AHN) under the aegis of Asiam Ministries India (NGO) has started training the rural people of Kamjong on how to make low cost houses by packing available soil (Earthbag) at Honkhuiphung /Silent village.
President of AHN, Dr Walter Lillo, who attended the training as a resource person elaborated on the project and stated that it focuses mainly on poor communities across the globe.
AHN provides technical support and financial assistance for targeted groups or individuals to enable them to construct their own dwelling with minimum investment, he added.
Dr Walter informed that as a pilot project, a model earthbag house was constructed at Honkhuiphung village which will be completed within months.

He also demonstrated the "Halo fibre Membrane water filter" to the villagers to spread awareness and prevent water related illness.
Samuel Sangh, an expert in making earthbag houses, enlightened the villagers on systematic construction of low cost houses.
According to him, the construction cost of the house would be much cheaper and earthquake resistant with strong durability as compared with other ordinary houses. Samuel also mentioned that many earthbag houses were constructed in Nepal, Rwanda, Uganda, etc through AHN support.
Rev A' Shimray, proprietor of International Asian Academy said that 15 acres of land have been acquired for the establishment of an international school to provide world class education to the children of poor families and Orphans.
He also mentioned that a Bible College will also be constructed for the benefits of the theologian.
