Mass Covid testing conducted at Apfii Saliki Senapati

Senapati, June 09 2021:
As per the direction of the Deputy Commissioner/Chairman, DDMA, Senapati district, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, mass Covid-19 testing of shopkeepers and taxi drivers (including autos) began today at Apfii Saliki (Women's Market), Senapati.
The mass Covid testing drive would continue till June 12, from 10 am to 2 pm daily.
The step was reportedly taken as precautionary measures for gradual relaxation of containment measures from June 14, subject to new SOPs of the Government in this regard.
The SDO/SDM, Senapati & District Surveillance Officer, Senapati in coordination with Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC) are working out schedules/batches for testing as per the capacity of the Medical department.
Briefing media persons, Dr Jacob, DSO, Senapati stated that the mass testing was carried out as per the order issued by District DC.
The step was reportedly taken as the Government was planning to permit the opening of shops in phases if the number of positive cases decreases.
It may be mentioned that 4 persons were tested Covid-19 positive out of 248 persons tested on the day.
The DSO Senapati further informed that all the positive persons were found asymptomatic and were instructed for strict home isolation.
In case of any complications they were also asked to inform the medical team or transfer to Isolation Ward at the District Hospital, Senapati.
The positive persons were reportedly given first aid medicines before they were sent for home isolation.
