NMSYO condemns 33 AR raid at Maram

Imphal, June 09 2021:
Northern Maram Students' & Youth Organisation (NMSYO) has strongly condemned alleged raid by 33 AR at Kabaduikung, a village under New Maram village, Maram on June 7 .
Informing that the raid has been creating a fear psychosis amongst innocent villagers, a NMYSO release issued by publicity secretary Bosco claimed that in the wee hours of June 7, 33 AR personnel forcefully kicked open the front door and window of one Karai John.
Later, a house belonging to a widow was forcefully opened and ransacked, while the troopers continued to raid neighbouring eight houses and harassed the people using high beam light after shutting of the power in addition to ransacking granaries and other belongings of the houses.
The atrocities continued till 2 am, the secretary claimed.
Stating that NMSYO considers such horrifying conduct of the 33 AR as undermining the prevailing peace and tranquillity in the area, the secretary alleged that even innocent public were not spared in their own land by the AR personnel for their vested interest under the immunity granted by AFSPA.
NMYSO urged the higher authority of AR to return those materials and belonging of houses forcefully taken by AR, repair damages caused in the raid and also demanded disciplining of the AR troopers to respect the sentiments of the locals where they are posted so that AR remains relevant to its slogan of 'Friends of the hills people' .
