Cong recalls Nehru's contribution

Imphal, May 27 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 58th death anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, at Congress Bhawan, here Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, MPCC president K Meghachandra recounted that Nehru saw to the formation of the present independent India and ushering in parliamentary democracy.
Secularism was an important principle of Nehru and he also worked for promotion of science and technology since 1960s.It is due to his efforts that the different communities are able to enjoy unity in diversity and freedom of speech under secularism.
He will always remain as one of the greatest leaders of India, the president remarked.
Congress leader O Ibobi said that Nehru is regarded as the architecture of new India.
His contribution to the development of the country is unending and as such, it is the responsibility of all of us to work hard and try to realise the vision of the first PM of the country, the ex-CM asserted.
As part of the function, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru.
