KUM, KSU oppose Union election

Kangpokpi, May 27 2022: Komrem Union Manipur (KUM) and Komrem Students' Union (KSU) in its emergency meeting' held at the KUM office, Lamphel unanimously decided to oppose the Kom Union election to be held on May 28 at Adimjati complex, Chingmeirong.

The joint bodies stated that Kom Union has no vision for the people and society as it was planned by only few people who are not eligible to hold the key posts in the Komrem Union and there main intentions are to create division and disunity within the Komrem society.

"At this juncture it is not necessary to form new organisation," it stated, while adding that if necessary the present Komrem CSOs who work and sacrifice for the welfare of the .community will consult with stakeholders and take appropriate decision.

While appealing to the public and village authorities of Komrem communities not to fall into the trap of those who merely work for their selfish interest, the joint bodies urged all to refrain from participation in the illegal election.

It also warned that if any Komrem village chiefs and youth fail to comply with the resolution, they will be held responsible for any chaos arising in the society.
