VHSN Day held across Thoubal district

As part of the 100 days action plan in Thoubal district, District Health Society, Thoubal organised Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND) in different villages of the district.
VHSND has been conceptualised as a community level strategy for convergent action for Health Early childhood Development Nutrition and Sanitation since 2007 by National Health Mission.
The programme is organised once in a month.
ASHAs, AWWs mobil ised the villagers especially women and children.
During the programme, awareness was also given on maternal health, child health, family planning, sanitation, communicable diseases, gender and health promotion.
The Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day held at Leishangthem Awang Leikai Bamon Mandop, was attended by chief medical officer Dr Y Nokul Singh, district programme manager Ch Basanta Singh, Leishangthem PHC medical officer Dr A Ramananda Singh and Thoubal ICDS supervisor Sushila Devi as presidium members.
In his speech, Dr Y Nokul explained that VHSND is a monthly regular programme organised in village/localities by ASHA/ANMs in coordination with Anganwadi Workers.
The programme aims to provide momentum to the new government to serve the people effectively throughout the year, he said.
During the health talk, Dr Ramananda highlighted on RMNCH-A+, the need for registration of newly pregnant women in the hospital, ANC cares, postnatal care services, adolescent health, importance of breast feeding, immunisation, family planning methods and RTI/ STI while Sushilla Devi highlighted about Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PM-MVY) which provides cash incentive up to Rs 5000 to the mother of first live birth and also about fortified rice, nutritious food items and need for intake of balanced diet.
Meanwhile, Basanta Singh highlighted on the various programmes and schemes under National Health Mission and explained to the public about AB-PM JAY and Chief Minister gi Hakshel gi Tangbang (CMHT) and Chief Minister s Health for All.
Services like Covid-19 Vaccination, Immunisation, four PMMVY forms were given to first time pregnant women.
Low cost sanitary pads were also distributed to adolescent girls and Iron Folic, Albendazole were distributed during the programme.
About 75 women, adolescent, children of the area attended the programme.
Similar programmes were also held at Cherapur Mayai Leikai, Bishnunaha Keisham Mayai Leikai, Lilong Leihaokhong, Leirongthel, Tentha Mathak Leikai and Heirok Part-II Bazar.
VHSNDs will be held at 107 villages/localities during the first 100 days.
