Senapati, May 27 2022:
Local MLAs of 48-Mao AC and 49-Tadubi were infuriated over the inaction of the authority concerned with more than 10 days having passed since the last fatal accident on May 15 .
It may be noted that two truck accidents killed both driver and the handyman on May 12 and May 15 at Likhru bridge, which is located between Chakumei and Makhan under Mao Police Station in Senapati district.
49-Tadubi AC MLA, N Kayisii stated that more than 10 days had gone but still no concrete action was taken up along the aforementioned site.
He stated that the local MLAs had reportedly met the state Chief Minister on May 16 for the same purpose to initiate immediate action without delay.
48-Mao AC MLA, L Dikho stated that some sign boards were reportedly put up by Mao Police and Mao Students Union along with Drivers Union and some stone boulders had been laid by the side of the bridge on the day of the accident.
Besides that, no crash barrier was reportedly put up along the said spot for the benefit of commuters.
The MLA then expressed discontent over such negligence from the concerned authority.
It may be noted that Truck Drivers Union, Mao Students Union and Mao Students Union, Senapati had tried to impose indefinite bandh along the highway to draw the attention of the concerned authority against the lack of action along Likhru River Bridge which is an accident prone zone.
However, based on assurance given by the 2 local MLAs to redress related issues at the earliest possible date, the proposed bandh was lifted.
