CRPF honours assistant CO L Ibomcha with PMG

Imphal, May 27 2022:
In an investiture ceremony organised by GC CRPF Imphal on Friday, Loukrakpam Ibomcha Singh, who is presently assistant commandant of 109 CRPF, was felicitated with two bars of President's Medal for Gallantry (PMG) by Manipur & Nagaland Sector CRPF IGP Manish Kumar Agrawal.
A release by CRPF PRO informed that Ibomcha Singh during his posting in Kashmir on December 31, 2017, not only rescued five CRPF personnel trapped in Type IV Quarters, but also gunned down three militants namely Fardeen Ahmad Khanday, Manzoor Ahmed Baba and one unidentified foreign militant in a fierce close quarter battle.
He rushed to the CRPF camp at Lethpira, Pulwama which came under attack and managed to overcome the extremely difficult operation that lasted for two days.
In the operation, his vehicle was also hit by UBGL grenade fired by militants but because of his presence of mind and gallant act, he could exit from the vehicle unharmed.
In another incident on October 17, 2018, firing took place between militants and CRPF troops at Fateh Kadal, Srinagar.
Ibomcha led the troops bravely and in the operation two LET terrorists and one Over Ground Worker were killed and a huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered.
In both the incidents, Ibomcha Singh was awarded PMG with 2nd Bar.
He was also awarded one PPMG.
Speaking on the occasion, Manish Kumar appreciated the bravery of the officer and expressed that such acts of valour of the personnel bring pride and laurels to the whole organisation.
He encouraged all officers and jawans present to exhibit similar courage and gallant acts in discharging their duties.
Ibomcha Singh expressed his gratitude to CRPF and ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for recognising his role and rewarding him with PMGs.
He is a resident of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Imphal East and joined CRPF in the year 2013 and served in Kashmir Valley for more than six years from 2014, where he got one PPMG and three PMG with bars.
His wife, Senjam Kiranmala is a medical officer in the Health Department and his parents are senior accountant at AG office L Deben Singh and homemaker L Anoubi.
