Culture and identity inseparable: Susindro

PHE minister L Susindro has stressed the need for promoting culture to protect identity as there will be no identity without culture.
Attending as chief guest of the inaugural function of a solo dance festival organised by Guru Kulla Cultural Academy under the sponsorship of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi held at Sangeet Kala Sangam Hall, Khurai Lamlong here on Friday, the minister said that Manipur is known for its rich cultural heritage.
Though the previous governments ignored art and culture for a long time, the present regime is taking up initiatives for their promotion with launch of different new schemes as art and culture is a vast held and reflects all aspects of life and the society from birth to death.
Artistes are covered under CMHT scheme.
A new pension scheme for artistes has been launched, he said.
Hailing Guru Kulla Cultural Academy for its contribution towards art and culture, the minister assured of contributing whatever he could to promote art and culture.
Academy president M Gunindro presided over the function which was attended by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee N Amusana as guest of honour.
Pungshtmgbam Avinash alias Aboy (Karta Cholom), Basu Sinam (solo dance) and Nikesan Laishram (Pung cholom) performed at the 4th edition of the festivals Basu Sinam and Kongjengbam Monika also presented a dance performance as special presentation.
