Kakching, February 02 2022:
Family of CJM (late) Yengkhom Somorjit, who died in a road accident that occurred near Wangjing Uningknong along National Highway 102 on January 30, has contended that the Company entrusted with the road construction work should be held responsible for his death.
Speaking to media persons at their Kakching Mayai Leikai Band Party Pareng residence on Wednesday, Somorjit's brother Shantikumar claimed that the mishap took place due to improper piling of boulder by workers and lack of safety protocols.
The site being an accident prone area, absence of indicators, reflectors and diversion sign, indicating piling of rocks/boulders, is the root cause of frequent accidents.
The construction company should have illuminated the area to make the construction materials visible especially so during the winter season.
Unfortunately, such initiatives were never taken up the company, he contended.
While holding the Company responsible for the death of his brother, Shantikumar urged the government to take appropriate actions against the company.
A sit-in protest will be staged at Kakching Bazar Naohallai Mamang on Thursday demanding actions against the company, he informed.
