Imphal, February 02 2022:
INC candidate Hijam Nutanchandra has demanded Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykisan to produce a white paper on the various works claimed to have been undertaken by him from 2012 to 2021 .
Addressing a press meet held at his Thingel Maru residence on Wednesday, Nutanchandra said that Thangmeiband constituency was once revered by many people.
However, its reputation has gone down the drain with instances of political turncoats over the years.
As the election draws near, attempts are being made to blur the people with black-topping works, which are being carried out without any work order.
Nutanchandra assured that he will continue to work for the development of the Constituency as part of Congress party's vision as he has always done.
Stating that he would also try to curb extravagance during this polls, Nutanchandra expressed belief that the local clubs and organisations would extend their cooperation while keeping aside all political influences and differences.
Appreciating the party for giving him the ticket, the INC candidate said that during the 15-year rule of Congress, the're was no price hike compared to the skyrocketing prices of fuel and other essential items under the present BJP government.
It was during Congress' rule that AFSPA was repealed from 7 assembly segments of the state, while the economy of the country was stabilised under the leadership of then PM Manmohon Singh.
However, under BJP's rule, the election to local bodies has been delayed till date, apart from failing to clear the funds for the second and third phase of Housing For All scheme, he remarked.
