House torched, three arrested

Properties worth around Rs 23 lakh were estimated to have been as the house of one Md Zawed Khan (32) son of MV Islamuddin of Shikhong Khunou under Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district caught fire.
The incident occurred around 10.30pm on Tuesday and police have arrested three people (father and two sons) said to be involved in torching the house.
The arrested people are identified as Md Firoj Khan (47) son of late Md Ahdul Hei and Firoj's two sons Md Nawas Khan (22) and Md Parwes Khan(20).Meanwhile, locals of Shikhong Khunou stormed Nongpok Sekmai police station demanding immediate punishment of all those detained in connection with the incident and later staged a protest demonstration at Shikhong community hall.
According to Md Zawed Khan, some people led by Md Firoj Khan, Md Ebungo (55) son of late Abdul Aji and his brother Md Tombi (60), Md Amjakhan (35) son of Md Tombi, Md Amu (50) son of Md Abdul Aji and Md Pisak (70) son of Md Abdul Aji intruded into his house armed with dangerous weapons and petrol around 10.30am without any reason.
After scattering household items and threatening family members, the group then poured petrol and set afire the house, he said, adding that the fire destroyed properties worth around Rs 23 lakh included vehicles, household properties, furniture, gold and cash.
He then appealed to authority concerned to award befitting punishment to all those involved in the crime.
