'Budget meant to alleviate poverty'

The Union Budget 2022-23 was prepared with the objective of alleviating poverty in India including Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated on Wednesday.
Addressing a press meet held at the Thambal Shan-glen of BJP, Nityaipat Chuthek here, Biren said that the BJP government under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi prepared the Union Budget 2022-23 which include provisions for building houses for around 80 lakh families, with special focus on houses as a basic need of a human.
For the youth, the focus is on infrastructure strategy under Atma Nirbhar; in agricultural sector, usage of drones for applying fertilisers, transporting the crops, and increasing activity of drones in canal and survey.
India is known to have the third largest mobile usage in the world.
As such, the budget includes provision for easing opening of emergency credit facilities, micro small industries; and opening a digital university in India.
The previous UPA government made a public investment of Rs 1.27 core for development of sports, but under the BJP government, the investment has now been increased to Rs 3 crore in last 7 years.
As the money is being used as public investment, it will aid in creation of jobs for the youth, he added.
The CM continued: "The proudest moment for BJP has been the construction/repair of 50,000km of national highways under PMGSY, a sudden increase of 30000km in the last 7 years.
For start-ups, taxes have been relaxed while in education, technical education is being given the advantage with focus on technical skills, laying of optical fibres in every village to increase internet connectivity; increase in NCC activities in villages near border areas; and Rs 1800 crore for livelihood activities in Manipur and the northeast.
"Meanwhile, Rs 560 crore is set to be allocated for upgradation of RIMS.
Additionally, provision for laying gas pipelines from Kohima in addition to the one from Silchar is included along with funds for structures relating to establishment of direct services of management of pediatric and adult hematology cancer in 129 acres of land in north east; and funds for homeless people and for buying grains and pulses," he added.
Stating that the Budget would be beneficial to the country, Biren lauded the vision of PM Modi and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman for coming up with the budget, which includes provisions related to RIMS, MSME, skill development and sports concerning the state.
