State Handloom Expo 2021-22 begins

Imphal, February 02 2022:
A 14-day State Handloom Expo 2021-2022 organised by Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers & Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative Society Limited under Development Commissioner for Handloom, Ministry of Textiles and NHDP commenced from Wednesday at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Padmashri awardee Konsam Ibomcha stressed the need to encourage weavers of the state and described as inspiring to witness increasing number of shops selling handloom products in localities.
He also exhorted the weavers to produce handloom products, which have been taking vital roles in identifying the place, by maintaining quality.
The function was attended by AWAS President A Ronika, District Handlooms & Textiles Imphal East project manager Ch Tombi, WSC assistant director (weaving) M Ibohal and NHDC officer-in-charge Y Shantikumar as presidium members.
In all, 60 stalls are displaying and selling handloom products at the Expo.
