AR distributes ration on World Food Day

Imphal, October 16 2021:
In connection with the observance of World Food Day Friday, 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector/IGAR (East) held a special programme for residents of Ariu Children Home, Khongjaron in Tamenglong district.
Under the theme "Save food now for a healthy tomorrow", the battalion reached out to society in the district to spread awareness about the same.
It shall raise awareness about hunger, malnutrition, sustainability and strengthening food production.
The children were distributed edible items to further strengthen the bond of brotherhood with these children.
World Food Day is observed to commemorate the day of founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945.The day is observed widely by many organisations working in the field of preventing hunger and ensuring food security, including the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
AR officials present at the simple said that with the growing population and scarce resources coupled with changing environment is impacting our food habits.
The ongoing covid pandemic has further strained the food demand and as such everybody needs to emphasis on improving food storage and reduce wastage at home.
Recycle as much as possible and reuse old water at home, they stressed.
