"Past regimes misused fund"

The pace of development remained hindered in Manipur as the state could not properly utilise huge funds released by the Centre in the past, stated chief minister N Biren Singh.
Despite release of sufficient fund by the Centre for the state in the past 70 years, people of Manipur are still unable to reap benefit of consistent support by the Union government due to lack of good leaders.
However, the BJP led government has managed to bring a change in the state in the past four years due to proper utilisation of fund released by the Centre, N Biren said, while inaugurating a newly constructed meeting hall at the sacred site of Chingoo Khoyum Sidaba Apanba Keirunghanba, Apanbi Keirunghanbi and Chingoo Khoyum Sidaba Emoinu Ahong Chaoba, Emoinu Ahong Chaobi at Wangoi in Imphal West district on Saturday.
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, who also attended the inauguration ceremony organised by Laiyingthou Malem Anganba Sanamahi Thougal Lup, said that he will surely put up the demand for inclusion of Sanamahi religion in the religious code of census report of India during the upcoming Parliament session.
While stating that he took serious note of experts' opinion that the existence of two important sites of Sanamahi is the main reason behind the long trend of doubling in execution of any work in the state, Sanajaoba said that a new decision will be taken about the two important sites in consultation with people after the end of the assembly election.
Tourism minister 0 Lukhoi, who also attended the event, said that COVID-19 pandemic has badly hit tourism sector and new development works for the sector remain halted.
Nevertheless, the tourism ministry has been proposed for development of Laikol complex at Wangoi, Hiyangthang Lairembi, Heibok Mahadeva and Bishnu temple at Ningthoukhong and development works will begin as soon as the Ministry gives approval for the same, he added.
