Maj Gen Alok Naresh fetes AR Cycle Rally team

Major General Alok Naresh, the Inspector General felicitated the members of the Assam Rifles cycling team which had recently undertaken a 3,100 km long cycle rally from Shillong to Delhi under "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" .
The General appreciated and recognised the efforts of the members towards successful conduct of such strenuous yet grand activity which motivated and encouraged large numbers of people across many States to keep themselves physically fit and at the same time instilled a sense of nationalism among the citizens, said a statement of IGAR(S).
He also thanked the local cycling clubs for participating in short cycle rallies before the main event.
The cycle rally was flagged off on September 5 by Director General Assam Rifles from Shillong and traversed through Kolkata, Ranchi, Lucknow and Agra before culminating at Raj Ghat in Delhi on October 2, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
The flagging in of the rally was done by Amit Shah, Home Minister of India at Red Fort.
A total of 34 cyclists from various Assam Rifles units participated in the rally.
