World Anaesthesia Day held

World Anaesthesia Day was observed today at Central Library, JNIMS organised by the Department of Anaesthesiology.
Head of Department of Anaesthesiology, JNIMS Professor S Thoibahenba remarked that the day was observed all over the world to commemorate the first time a dose of anaesthesia was administered back in October 16, 1846 at a hospital in Massachusetts, USA.
He also spoke on the topic of heart attack, stating that it boasts the highest mortality rate.
It is more prevalent in aging men, he added, and encouraged exercise, less consumption of meat and no smoking .
