Chief Minister N Biren Singh has urged all to refrain from re-electing MLAs who think for Manipur only when the State Assembly election is nearing.
The Chief Minister made the appeal during a felicitation ceremony of Tangkhul Naga Long former president Hopinson A Shimray along with 100 of his supporters including 12 NPF leaders from Phungyar Constituency who joined BJP at the office of BJP State unit at Nityaipat Chuthek.
Speaking at the ceremony, N Biren further appealed to the people of Kamjong, Chingai and Ukhrul Assembly Constituencies to support the saffron party in the forthcoming Assembly election.
Saying that there are many BJP supporters in Ukhrul and Kamjong, the Chief Minister informed that the saffron party will carry out its election campaign in the two districts shortly.
He also expressed desire for all the communities residing in Manipur to shun violence and coexist harmoniously and added that some elements, however, are trying to distort the brotherly relation among the people of Manipur.

Maintaining that NPF is a coalition partner of the State Government, the Chief Minister conveyed his gratitude to all the NPF workers who joined BJP and appealed to the remaining NPF members to join the saffron party too.
N Biren also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn't discriminate people on the basis of caste, creed, religion or any other factors but firmly believes in uniform development for all.
Claiming that Kamjong has become the first district in Manipur to provide tap water to every household, the Chief Minister contended that the pace of development seen in Ukhrul and Kamjong district since the coming of BJP Government is unprecedented.
BJP State unit president A Sharda Devi said that the entry of Hopinson A Shimray to the BJP will not only strengthen the party but also the relation between the hills and valley people.
She also appealed to the leaders from the hill districts to play a major part in ensuring the BJP return to power after the next Assembly election.
Hopinson A Shimray, on the other hand, exuded confidence that BJP would surely win the Assembly election, due in early part of 2022 .
The ceremony was also attended by BJP election co-in-charge of Manipur Ashok Singhal, Education Minister S Rajen, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba and BJP Manipur & Nagaland general secretary organisation, Abhay Kumar Giri.
