Tengnoupal, October 16 2021:
The villagers of Kwatha on Saturday appealed to the State Government to repair the 5.9 Km long road from Kwatha village to Imphal-Moreh National Highway before December 2021 and warned of boycotting the upcoming Manipur Assembly Election 2022 if the Government failed to comply with the demands of the people.
Speaking to media persons, Takhelambam Sanjoy, secretary Kwatha villages expressed his anguish over the deplorable conditions of the road in the village and stated that the concerned Department has remained silent to the call of the people to complete blacktopping and repairing the road.
"The concerned department had repeatedly assured to complete blacktopping the road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) on many occasions.
Some officials even visited the village a few days back and gave their assurance to complete the road repair.
But no visible work has been seen so far", he asserted.
The secretary also raised questions against the effectiveness of Chief Minister's " Go to Hills" initiative considering the lackadaisical attitude of the concerned department.
Sanjoy further mentioned that the villagers of Kwatha have unanimously resolved to boycott the Manipur Assembly Election 2022 if the Government doesn't intervene and complete the road repair before the month of December.
