Imphal, October 16 2021:
Communist Party of India has expressed strong disapproval of the hurried corporatisation of 41 ordnance factories into seven new defence companies by the Modi Government.
As per a press release issued by Communist Party of India today D Raja, general secretary of CPI has stated that the Prime Minister of India carried out the inauguration of the seven defence companies on October 15 ignoring opposition from CPI, AITUC and defence civilian employees union.
In doing so, the PM demolished the 220 year old existing Indian Ordnance Factories as part of the RSS-BJP Govt's privatisation spree.
As per the statement, CPI has deemed the move 'anti-national' and asserted that it will weaken the security and defence preparedness of the country.
CPI expressed gratitude to the 4 lakh civilian employees, their families and retired employees for boycotting the live telecast of the inauguration ceremony and added that in certain instances representatives who were invited to the event refused to attend, aligning their support and solidarity with the civilian workers.
The statement further urged the Govt to reconsider the decision as it will impact the defence preparedness of the Nation and ultimately affect the Armed Forces the most.
