KPA launches campaign for its candidate

Kuki People's Alliance (KPA) launched a full-scale campaign for its candidate in 60 Singhat (ST) assembly constituency Chinlungthang by organising an event where KPA president Tongmang Haokip hoisted the party flag at its Sangaikot office on Monday.
Soon after hoisting the party, KPA held a massive campaign at Dongjang village playground which was attended by a large number of people including chiefs of the area, Paite and Simte tribe leaders, CSO leaders, student leaders, Kuki Inpi Churachandpur leaders, Kuki Students' Organisation leaders, besides others.
During his speech, Chinlunthang stressed on the need to safeguard the tribal lands, empower HAC and hold ADC election and devolve more power to the ADCs.
He also criticized the reluctance and failure of the tribal law-makers in raising their voice in the assembly to protect their people and to address the need for empowerment of HAC and practical application and implementation of provisions guaranteed under 371(C) of the Indian constitution in tribal areas.
He added that tribal MLAs failed to take a firm stand on the fight spearheaded by ATSUM.
While talking about in-frastructural development, the KPA candidate appealed to all to rally behind KPA for their
real survival.
