Leaders ignoring plight of hill people: Haokholet

Saitu assembly constituency independent candidate Haokholet Kipgen has contended no elected representatives from the hills had ever tried to enhance the local produces of the hills to enhance economy of its people.
Speaking during his flag hoisting ceremony held at Hengbung playground, Kangpokpi on Monday, Haokholet lamented that though many leaders claim that the hills and valley of Manipur are one, Saitu AC remains the least developed compared to other constituencies.
While many educated youth continue to struggle for livelihood no MLAs from the hill areas tried to gener ate employment or income of these youth by enhancing production of local produces, he maintained.
Highlighting the need 1 < > discuss and find out the reasons for misunderstanding between the hills and the valley, he said that he will focus on education sector if he wins the election.
The minister.and MLAs only try to establish schools in their areas.
As such, students residing in remote areas are deprived of basic education, he said while assuring of taking up initiatives to mitigate such problems.
An elected representative of the people should have a long vision, he added.
