The Kuki Peoples Alliance (KPA) candidate for 60 Singngat (ST) Assembly Constituency, Chinlunthang kicked off his campaign on Monday at Dongjang village playground.
A flag hoisting ceremony of the KPA candidate was also held at his Sangaikot office.
The KPA campaign which began in Sangaikot area will move on to other areas of the assembly segment, as per sources.
Besides the candidate, KPA president Tongmang Haokip, social workers, student leaders and village chiefs spoke on the occasion.
In his speech, Chinlunthang talked on the need to safeguard the tribal lands, empower HAC and the need for holding ADC elections with greater autonomy.
The reluctance and failure of the tribal law makers to raise their voice in the assembly to protect and serve the interest of their people is the major factor that dwindles tribal rights and interest, he said.
Chinlunthang also assured that he would stand by the KPA's manifesto and serve the interest of the tribal people if elected.
