Cong names star campaigners

The Congress party has released a list of its 30 star campaigners for the second phase of polling for the ensuing Assembly elections.
Among the most notable names of star campaigners are Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, former chief minister Okram Ibobi and Jairam Ramesh.
Though Sonia Gandhi is also the party's star campaigner for other states, where polls are being held, neither she nor former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have actively campaigned anywhere so far.
The list of star campaigners also include youth leader Kan-haiya Kumar, party's minority department chief Imran Prat-apgarhi and Mahila Congress chief Metta D'Souza.
Apart from Mr Ramesh, who is overseeing assembly polls in the state, Congress in charge for Manipur Bhakta Charan Das and a host of local leaders are also part of the list.
The Congress along with five other like-minded parties launched the Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance last week to take on the ruling BJP in the upcoming assembly polls.
Besides the Congress, the other parties in the alliance are CPI, CPM, RSP, JD (S) and Forward Bloc.
An 18-point common agenda was also finalised.
The other prominent names announced in a statement issued by the All India Congress Committee include Bhakta Charan Das, MPCC president N Loken Singh, Rakibul Hussain (Assam), AICC working committee member and Nungba MLA Gaikhangam, MLAs TN Haokip (Saikot), Ak Mirabai Devi (Patsoi), K Ranjit Singh (Sugnu), Alfred K Arthur (Ukhrul) and K Meghachandra Singh, Vidyapati Senjam, Kh Devabrata Singh, RK Anand, M Okendro, Thokchom Meina, Gaurav Krishna Ch Shashtri, L Tilotama, Samina Begum, I Hemochandra Singh, Mutum Sarma Devi, T Mangibabu Singh, N Mahananda Singh, Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh and Kabir Ahamed.
