Imphal, February 14 2022:
BJP candidate Elangbam Johnson and Independent candidate Sapam Nishikant, who are in the fray for the seat of Keishamthong AC, organised their flag hoisting ceremonies at their respective residences on Monday.
The flag hoisting ceremony of Elangbam Johnson was held at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai in the presence of BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi and supporters.
Sapam Nishikant also hoisted his flag at his Sega road Thouda Babok Leikai residence.
Later, a public meeting was held at Kwakeithel Moirangpurel ground.
The flag hoisting ceremony of Sekmai AC Congress candidate Ningthoujam Biren was also held at his residence located at Phayeng Kharang on Monday.
Speaking at the event, he contended that the BJP government is more of words and less of deeds.
Despite the approval for setting up a sports university in the state, the negligence of the government has led to such a situation where it could be shifted to UP, he said.
People know what kind of party is BJP as the BJP government did not focus on developmental activities but on publicity.
As such Congress wave has been on the rise, he maintained.
Meanwhile, LJP(R) candidate in Khurai assembly constituency Heisnam Sub-hash said that capability and commitment of the candidate is more important than the party.
He was speaking at a poll campaign meeting held at United Club ground after conducting his flag hoisting ceremony at his residence at Kongpal Kongkham Leikai on Monday.
Addressing the campaign meet, Subhash said that he is contesting the election with the objective of bringing positive changes and a new dimension of development in Khurai AC.
People's representative should have the ability to understand public sentiments and carry out their wishes, he said, while adding that party affiliation is secondary in choosing the right candidate.
