AR units pay tributes to brave-hearts

Imphal, December 14 2022:
Sajik Tampak Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a wreath laying ceremony to honour Baban Ram at its Battalion Headquarters on Wednesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that rifleman Baban Ram displayed courage and bravery and made the supreme sacrifice on December 14 in 1996 while battling UGs in Mokokchung, Nagaland.
Three officers, nine JCOs and 45 OR attended at the wreath laying ceremony.
The Battalion and Assam Rifles saluted the supreme sacrifice of Baban Ram in the line of duty.
Similarly, Mantripukhri Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a wreath laying ceremony for (JC-47921) subedar HB Thapa, KC; (G/411564) rifleman GD Om Bahadur Thapa, SM; and (G/411664) rifleman GD Rama Shankar, SC who attained martyrdom during an ambush on December 14,1994.On the fateful, an area domination patrol comprising of one officer, one JCO and 20 other ranks was launched from D Company in Chassad, present-day Kamjong district under Maj SK Pathak.
The party encountered an ambush near Haijang village by cadres of NSCN (IM) around 10 am.
Maj SK Pathak and his party showed raw courage and immediately carried out counter-ambush drill, bringing effective fire on the insurgents and killed two NSCN (IM) cadres.
Sub HB Thapa, rifleman Om Bahadur Thapa, and rifleman Rama Shankar made the supreme sacrifice and were awarded Kirti Chakra, Sena Medal and Shaurya Chakra, respectively, added the PRO in another release.
