Minister stresses on learning diverse languages

Education minister Th Basanta Kumar Singh has said that learning different languages can promote unity and oneness amongst the different communities in the state.
"Under the vision and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, learning of different languages to promote unity amongst diversified communities and cultures will be implemented soon," the minister announced, while inaugurating the newly-constructed building of Hoomi High School on Tuesday.
Basanta was accompanied by Transport Minister Khashim Vashum and Education (S) additional director Alfred Khaute during the visit.
Emphasising on the need to learn different languages to promote unity and togetherness, the education minister said that two months' training with some incentives will be provided by the government to those learning languages as recognised by the government.
The former IPS officer said that there are many languages spoken in Manipur, and learning all of them can help people understand each other and different cultures better.
The education minister said that the state government under the leadership of CM Biren Singh is working on a plan to implement different education programs and policies very soon.
He said that the government is also working on a plan to make sure that all students in Manipur have access to education in all of the languages spoken in the state.
He also informed that a new project called "BALA" (Building as Learning Aids) will be implemented by January next year.
"It envisions reaching and teaching students in specialised subjects in every part of state by teachers working on voluntarybasis," he said.
Along with inaugurating the Hoomi High School building, minister Basanta distributed sports materials and white board sets to the students.
During the visit, the ministerial team also inaugurated other projects including Transit Accommodation for doctors & teachers under Planning Department at Jessami and Sadbhavana Mandab at Ukhrul district headquarters under Minority Affairs Department on behalf of CM N Biren Singh.
