Minister encourages fish farmers to adopt innovative technology

The Cage culture and Pen culture will be expanded for promoting Tuna fish production in the State, said Fisheries Minister Heikham Dingo today.
He made this statement while inspecting cage and pen culture in Dumboor Lake in Gandacherra sub-division of Dhalai district in Tripura.
Dumboor Lake is about 12 kilometers from Agartala city.
The farmers in Dumboor Lake are using new and innovative technologies.
This is inspiring, said the Minister.
Dingo added the method being used in the Dumboor Lake can be adopted in the water bodies at Khuga Dam and Mapithel Dam areas.
The practices being adopted by the farmers in Dumboor Lake are not only environment friendly but these will also help enhance fish production significantly and improve the economy.
He also called on farmers of Manipur to adopt innovative ideas and methods and enhance their fish yield.
Appealing to all stakeholders to make Manipur self-sufficient in fish production, he said this is also one of the visions of Chief Minister N Biren Singh's Loktak Livelihood Mission.
Fisheries Director H Balkrishana Singh and several State scientists and officials of Tripura Fisheries Department accompanied the Minister during the visit.
