Senapati, December 14 2022:
All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has appealed to both the Mao Council (MC) and the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) to resolve any dispute in a peaceful manner while taking into consideration the crucial situation the Naga nation is facing at present.
The appeal from ANSAM has come following the report that SAPO would ban Mao people from entering the Southern Angami area with effect from December 15 over the issue of land dispute.
An ANSAM statement jointly signed by newly elected president Luikang Bruce and general secretary Angteshang Mating urged both Mao Council and SAPO to exercise restraint until' peaceful resolution of the dispute to prevent any untoward incidents from happening within the Naga family.
It also appealed to SAPO to reconsider and revoke its decision of prohibiting Mao denizens from entering the Southern Angami area considering the Christmas season.
While the Nagas are praying for a logical conclusion of the Indo-Naga peace talk with due recognition of Naga Flag and Constitution and integration as inalienable rights of the Naga people at this crucial time, ANSAM is disconsolate to come across a dispute over traditional land ownership between Mao Council and SAPO, the joint statement said.
Considering the impending socio-political upheavals among the Nagas and concerning the common goal to bring cohesion, socio-cultural harmony and peaceful co-existence within the Nagas as a family under the roof of one umbrella, Mao Council and SAPO are urged to resolve the dispute in a peaceful manner, it added.
