AMTDGF backs shut down in Tamenglong

All Manipur Tribal Development Grievances Forum (AMTDGF) has extended its support to the total shutdown launched by Chairman and Secretaries Association, Tamenglong (CSAT) and Village Authority Chairmen's Council (VACC), Tamenglong in protest against non-payment of outstanding wages and material components under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) by the state government.
In a release, AMTDGF joint secretary Wungreikhan Kasar stated that it has repeatedly appealed to the government to release MGNREGS funds before Christmas.
The total shutdown called in Tamenglong is a spontaneous reaction of registered job card holders as the state government has failed to release outstanding dues and material components under MGNREGS, it claimed.
AMTDGF continued that the government should realise and Understand the sentiments of job card holders and pay their due wages and material components before Christmas.
Unless, the government pays the due wages and components under MGNREGS, a series of agitations will be launched against the government, it warned.
AMTDGF further appealed and reminded the government to release the balance amount before Christmas in the interest of job card holders of the state.
