College students celebrate Advent Christmas with destitute children

Ukhrul, December 14 2022:
Students of St Joseph College, Ukhrul mainly from the Department of Sociology celebrated Advent Christmas together with the destitute children of Ukhrul to give hope in their struggle for life.
The programme was organised as a student enrichment activity to build confidence by taking social responsibilities.
During the celebration, the students displayed musical talents, storytelling and encouraged the children as their elders.
Speaking at the sidelines, Lecturer of St Joseph College Ukhrul, Yurkathing stated that taking social responsibility is a part of Sociology (subject) and every student has to take note of this important activity.
"Apart from classroom learning, the students' direct involvement by seeing the ground situation of the society will develop a sense of owning responsibilities and motivate them in their educational career by building confidence in their work", asserted Yurkathing.
The students also presented clothes and stationery items to more than 180 orphan children of Ukhrul town.
It may be mentioned that the children were staying at 6 different homes namely, Children Home Alungtang, Eden Home, Open Shelter, Indo-Myanmar Mission, Spring of Hope and Maiyur Home.
