World TB Day observed

Noney, March 24 2022:
Observance of World Tuberculosis Day 2022 was organised by National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, Noney at the conference hall of CMO, Noney on Thursday.
The programme was attended by CMO Dr Edwin Golmei, district leprosy officer Dr Azin Maringmei, district malaria officer Dr Gairanlung Thaimei and district TB officer (DTO) Dr Z Kamei as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Z Kamei pointed out that TB is curable and the treatment cost and medicines are provided freely by the government.
He appealed to the citizens of Noney district to come forward for testing and know their status early so as to avoid from any complication.
He also informed that as of now only three diagnosed patients have undergone medical treatment and availed the facilities in Noney district.
On the other hand, CMO Dr Edwin Golmei mentioned that due to negligence and carelessness, some TB patients are facing relapse due to drug resistance.
During the programme, testimonies were also shared by cured patients arid prizes distributed to the 'TB Champions' by the dignitaries.
The observance was also attended by doctors, paramedical staff and other CSO leaders.
