The programme is being jointly organised by directorate of family welfare services and State Health Society (NHM) .
Director (family welfare) Dr N Dihe Mao, who attended the launch programme as chief guest, said that the state is successfully implementing NID/IPPI programme.
Even though the country has no polio case since 2011 and declared a polio free nation, NID/ IPPI programme is continuing as some neighbouring countries still experience polio cases, he said and appealed to people to support the programme while understanding its importance.
According to Dr N Dihe Mao, media plays important role in successful implementation of the programme and it is due to the help and co-operation from different sections of people that the programme could be implemented successfully.
He then appealed to people to continue extending help and co-operation in administering polio drops to children below the age of five years.
DDO (family welfare) Dr Th Dineshwor, who also attended the launch programme as one of the guests of honour, said that pulse polio immunization programme is launched to eradicate polio from the globe but every section of the society needs to shoulder responsibility in making the programme a successful one.
Missing out even a single child in administering two polio drops would not be able to achieve objective of the programme and hence it is important to administer polio drops to every child below five years of age, he said, adding that polio cases across the world have been significantly reduced except for few cases in Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
