Imphal, March 24 2022:
While observing that it would be difficult for the state government to successfully realise the Budget 2022-23 without any support or funding from the central government; economist Dr Chinglen Maisnam, who is also the columnist for The People's Chronicle, has remarked that the Budget tabled on Thursday shadowed an image of a full budget or close to it.
The economist emphasised the need for central assistance and support to meet the budget expenditure size and GDP of the state.
Excluding Assam, Manipur Budget 2022-23 is one of the biggest budgets amongst the north-eastern states.
It is laudable that such a budget was prepared amidst the Covid-19 situation.
However, it cannot be realised without central support.
The people are waiting for the government to produce a full budget, which would be realistic and achievable, he pointed out.
