Renowned Neurosurgeon Dr W Motilal passes away, many condole

Renowned Neurosurgeon of the State and former Director of State and Family Welfare, Dr W Motilal passed away yesterday at his residence at Nongmeibung Chakpram Leikai due to an illness.
Dr W Motilal was instrumental in starting Department of Neurosurgery in JN Hospital, Porompat and had served the people of the state and neighbouring states selflessly and was later promoted as the Medical Superintendent of the same hospital.
Before his Superannuation in Jan 2010, he was also serving as the Medical Director of State and Family Welfare.
He was the brainchild in establishing Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat and had christened it to JNIMS from JN hospital.
Many especially the medical fraternity of the State have deeply mourned the untimely demise of Dr W Motilal.
All the teaching and non-teaching staff of JNIMS held a condolence meeting today at the College Council Room, A-Block chaired by the JNIMS Director to condole the demise of Dr W Motilal.
The members present recounted the contributions made by him in the field of health care services in the State in general and establishment of JNIMS in particular and observed one-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
In honour of the departed soul, Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur State Branch held a condolence meeting at the IMA Hall, Lamphel yesterday and a one minute silence was observed.
The Raj Medicity also held a condolence meeting over the demise of Dr W Motilal at the multipurpose hall of the hospital yesterday chaired by Dr Vijayraj Haobijam, Executive Director, Raj Medicity.
The attendees recalled the significant contributions made by him and his staff in the establishment and development of the Neurosurgery Department at Raj Medicity and stated that his demise is a big loss for the State.
A two minute silence was observed in respect of the departed soul.
