CCpur observes World TB Day

National TB eradication programme, Churachandpur in coordination with Piramal Swasthya observed World Tuberculosis Day at Churachandpur district TB office on Thursday which was marked by taking a pledge to eradicate TB, testimony of TB champion LL Muana and highlighting problems faced by TB department in eradicating TB.
CMO Churachandpur district hospital Kimngaihchihg Simte, who attended the event as chief guest, stated that TB department is facing financial problem and hence the department is unable to even provide Rs 500 to TB patients as nutritional support since the past 2/3 years.
She also said that staff of the department are not getting salary since November, 2021 while vehicles of the department are in sorry state and hence could not visit homes of TB patients.
TB is one of the leading causes of death in India but its treatment has been neglected very much in the country, she added.
RNTCP staff Kenedy also said that the department is facing untold problems due to lack of fund while P Kipgen of Piramal Swasthya and other district officers highlighted activities they have undertaken and achievements made.
Later, participants took the pledge to stop spread of TB by working and doing their duties sincerely and the oath was administered by P Kipgen.
Later, TB champion and gospel singer LL Muana revealed his success story and encouraged TB patients to take advice of doctors seriously and take medicine in time.
He also said that he got nutritional support amount of Rs 500 only once.
