Chandel, March 24 2022:
The Anal Lenruwl Tangpi (Anal Naga Students' Union) has expressed disasspointment over the irregular attendance of District Fishery Officer Chandel and urged authorities concerned to take necessary action before things blow out of proportion.
In a release, ALT GHQ alleged that the District Fishery Officer and staff of District Fishery Office Chandel attend office once in a month or once in two months.
The union alleged that the District Fishery Office headed by the Fishery Officer are all incompetent in executing their works to the satisfaction of the people.
"They failed to attend office, they failed to pay field visits, they failed to interact with the fish farmers and they failed to organise seminars on how to increase fish product under any schemes.
So, how could our district grow if officers failed to perform their duties properly", it added.
The union also stated that the inability of the Fishery Officer to perform his duties has hampered the vision of the Central and State Government of making Chandel one of the fish producers in Manipur.
In regards to the PMMSY scheme which was launched recently, the union alleged that the scheme was embroiled in corruption from the initial stage wherein forms were sold at Rs 100 each; no screening/interview was conducted for selecting genuine applicants; no field visits was made by the department; and ponds which were mandatory were not to constructed.
ALT further alleged that the officer in-charge short-listed all the beneficiaries without even coming to office and interacting with the applicants.
