AIYF for Mar 23 as 'National Martyrs' Day'

Imphal, March 24 2022:
While appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government for observing March 23 as Martyrs' Day in recognition of the supreme sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev Singh for the nation, All India Youth Federation (AIYF) state unit has demanded declaration of the day as 'National Martyrs' Day' .
According to a statement of AIYF Manipur State Committee, freedom fighters namely Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev Singh were hanged to death for leading armed revolution to free India from the colonial yoke of British on March 23, 1931 at Lahore jail.
Hanging of the trio, however, encouraged many youths to join India's freedom movement and accordingly the country achieved independence on August 15, 1947 .
Beginning Martyrs' Day observance by the present NDA government in recognition of the supreme sacrifices made by three freedom fighters would enhance sacrificing spirit of youth of the nation, the statement said and urged the government to declare March 23 as 'National Martyrs' Day'.
It also demanded early implementation of Bhagat Singh National Employment scheme so that un employment problem could be solved.
